Global comparison with other satellite data

• Level-3 Ocean Color Data Comparison (Terra/Aqua MODIS, GLI, POLDER, MERIS, and SeaWiFS)

1. CHLA with SeaWiFS

• CHLA images in April 2003 by (A) SeaWiFS, (B) GLI (pre-launch coefficients), (C) GLI (CH13&19 atmospheric correction with vicarious coefficients using SeaWiFS nLw in 2003/06/25), and (D) GLI (CH16&19 atmospheric correction with vicarious coefficients using SeaWiFS nLw in 2003/06/25).
• GLI CHLA needs vicarious coefficients and alternative-band algorithm (using CH13&19 instead of CH16&CH18).

2. CHLA and nLws with SeaWiFS

• Various vicarious coefficients are tested, and the results are compared with SeaWiFS nLws and CHLA.
• Original (pre-launch) ones are not acceptable for ocean color products.
• SeaWiFS-based ones, especially ones derived in the same day, look best in this way.
