Launch of an Alternative AMSR2 SST Product Following the Discontinuation of the NRT Data Service
To ensure continuity of AMSR2 SST data services following the discontinuation of the official AMSR2 SST Near Real-Time (NRT) product service on September 2, 2026, the JAXA GHRSST server will begin distributing an alternative AMSR2 SST product on August 31, 2026. The latency of the alternative product is expected to be approximately 2 to 16 hours, depending on the timing of satellite data downlink.
The data distribution directories will remain unchanged:
/AMSR2_NRT/GDS2.0/latest/L2P(L3C)
/AMSR2_NRT/GDS2.0/v4.1/L2P(L3C)/YYYY/MM/DD
About GHRSST
JAXA provides near-real-time data Sea Surface Temperature (SST) retrievals from several passive microwave imagers as a contribution to the Group for High Resolution SST (GHRSST).
Those SST products are produced at Earth Observation Research Center (EORC) of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
All SST products are in GDS format defined by GHRSST, and available as L2P (swath grid) and L3C (daily grid) products.
