ADEOS to be launched on August 17, 1996

On June 19, 1996, the Space Activities Commission, an advisory committee to the Prime Minister of Japan, authorized August 17, 1996 as the ADEOS launch date. ADEOS is scheduled to be launched by an H-II launch vehicle from the Tanegashima Space Center at 10:29 JST on August 17, 1996.
The following postlaunch activities are planned:

November 17, 1996 Start data delivery to PIs for Cal/Val research
November 1996 First ADEOS ground segment meeting
February 1997 Calibration campaign in California
March 10-14, 1997 ADEOS Symposium and Workshop
April 1997 Validation campaign in Alaska for atmosphere and cryosphere
April-June 1997 Validation campaign for oceanography
