- Ocean -
Upwelling by clockwise wind off the northeast of
Australia observed by ADEOS.
RGB image of nLw (666, 565, 490nm), CHLA, and SST
processed by GLI ocean algorithms. Upper right image is monthly wind
vectors observed by NSCAT.
- During March 1997, clockwise winds were blowing in the Coral
Sea off the northeast of Austraria. The clockwise winds cause upper
ocean upwelling, which supplies cool and nutrient-rich water from deep
sea to the sea surface. The ocean color, chlorophyll-a, and sea-surface
temperature images show the upwelling influences
clearly.
