JAXA STARTS PROVIDING DATA TO ADEOS PIs

Tasuku Tanaka
Director
Earth Observation Research and application Center, Japan Space Exploration Agency

JAXA completed the on-orbit initial checkout of all equipment aboard ADEOS as planned. The satellite began the routine operation phase on November 26, 1996, and we began providing OCTS and AVNIR standard products for the ADEOS PIs on January 1, 1997.

OCTS and AVNIR data currently available do not cover the full list of the standard products and, in some cases, may not yet be fully calibrated or validated. Please bear with us if your data quality is not so good in this early phase of the ADEOS operation. Your use of ADEOS AVNIR/OCTS would be very much appreciated, and JAXA looks forward to the results of your research.

ADEOS data is not provided automatically for each PI but when requested by a PI. A PI can order OCTS/AVNIR data via the Earth Observation Data and Information System (EOIS) User Interface Software (EUS). EUS provides you with information on the ADEOS data inventory, browse images of cataloged data, and information about the ADEOS observation plan. Please locate your desired data in the ADEOS data inventory using EUS, then order it via EUS. JAXA would like to strongly recommend that you use EUS. If you have not yet applied for EUS, please contact our Order Desk.
